How to flush your feeding tube

A simple routine that keeps your tube clear and working.

Flushing pushes water through your tube to clear away formula and medication residue. Done before and after every feed, it is the single best way to prevent clogs.

1Draw 30–60 mL of room-temperature water into a 60 mL syringe.
2Attach the syringe firmly to the medication port.
3Push the water through gently over 30–60 seconds.
Never force a clogged tube. If you feel resistance, stop and let warm water sit before trying again.

You shouldn’t have to piece tube care together alone.

Lugano turns scattered questions into clear, trustworthy cards — a personal library that grows with you and keeps your care team in the loop.

01

Ask anything you're struggling with

A question, a worry, a 3am what-if — in plain words. No medical jargon, no judgement.

02

Add it to your board

Lugano turns it into a clear, trustworthy card you keep — not a one-off answer you'll lose by morning.

03

Make it yours

Personalize each card to your tube, your meds, and your day — and refine it alongside your doctor and caregivers.

04

Your corpus grows stronger

Every card sharpens the next — for you, your caregivers, and everyone who comes after. One plus one starts to feel like eleven.

We answer the question behind your question.

Ask something simple. Lugano works out what you really need to know — and builds a thorough card tailored to your tube, your medications, and your history.

Deep, thoughtful cards — made easy to follow

Every question becomes a thorough, clinically-checked card, broken into clear sections — plain-language steps, honest warnings, comparisons, and when-to-call-your-doctor guidance. Even complex topics feel simple.

How a card is built

Built around you, not the average patient

Lugano knows your tube type, equipment, age, and history — so every card it writes is tailored to your exact situation, never generic advice pulled off the internet.

Your flushing routine

Because you have a 14 Fr G-tube and feed overnight by pump, flush with 30 mL of water before bed and when you wake — not after every bolus.

Our mission: to consolidate the siloed knowledge of tube care into a corpus that compounds.

Reliable guidance on living with a feeding tube remains fragmented — dispersed across community forums, single-use clinic handouts, and clinical literature few patients have the time to read. Lugano consolidates these disparate sources into one continuously reviewed corpus: organized for clarity, checked for accuracy, and refined as your care and the underlying evidence evolve — so it can better guide you, and your care team, at every step.
